As anyone who has stayed at the Holualoa Inn knows, the preservation of the historical value and familiar charm of our bed & breakfast is the cornerstone of our vision. When the time comes to update or renovate any part of the Inn or any of the other buildings on our estate, we seek to bring out and accentuate its best features while maintaining the character of the original structure. In that spirit, we have recently completed a long-awaited makeover of our Red Barn, which our previous guests may remember as the large building adjacent to the Malulani Pavilion. The barn has been vacant since the Inn’s inception, but we felt that it had too much potential to remain unused. The recent 
renovation has converted the Barn into an open-concept studio that can also be used as a conveniently-located bridal suite for any wedding parties preparing for a ceremony at Malulani. It’s the perfect addition to our Big Island wedding venue!
The Barn itself remains largely unchanged on the exterior, but the spacious interior has been completely transformed into a luxurious studio. Despite the name, there is nothing rustic about the Red Barn. It has been meticulously appointed in the same elegant style as the main house, with hardwood furniture and imported East Asian antiques. The cabinets in t
he kitchenette are fashioned from a single trunk of beautifully-polished Monkeypod, which was felled on the estate several years ago and saved in anticipation of this renovation. The high ceilings and open layout have been preserved, as has the three-quarter length lanai which is accessed by a triple set of French doors. When these are open the studio transforms into a bright indoor-outdoor living space as the gentle and refreshing makai breeze fills the interior. The en suite bathroom is separated 
from the studio by a sliding barn door; inside is a large shower, full-size bath, and stone-basin sinks with unique copper faucets. For bridal parties the Red Barn also has a dressing room with a full-length triple mirror. The large, open space is ideal for larger groups getting ready together.
The Barn is immediately available for bookings. It can be booked for day-only use for bridal parties looking for a convenient and spacious location to prepare for weddings on our estate. It is also available for two-night minimum stays for 
guests looking for an alternative to the rooms at the Inn or for a secluded space for a romantic getaway. In order to ensure that your stay at the Red Barn will not be interrupted by a wedding or other event at the Malulani Pavilion, the room will only become available for bookings one month in advance, contingent on openings in our event schedule. This makes the Barn ideal for last-minute bookings, when you absolutely need to take a break and get away to the Big Island.
