Events abound this month — from  festivities just down the Road from Holualoa Inn to hoe downs in Waimea’s “cowboy country” — August is action-filled here on the Big Island! Follow the upper highway for a scenic coastal and dryland forest panorama or head down to Queen K Highway where you’ll skirt ocean and lava fields to make the 45 minute drive to historic Waimea Town on Saturday, August 14, 2010. The “Real Beef by Real Cowboy” event (cowboys from 10 Hawaii Island ranches dish up their favorite beef, bread and dessert recipes for a delicious hoe down) at the Anna Ranch Heritage Center from 3-6 p.m. Meanwhile, mark your calendar for Sunday, August 22 for the Hulihee Palace Concert featuring vocals by the “Merrie Monarchs” and hula performed by the award-winning “Halau Na Pua Ui o Hawaii”. The complimentary concert begins at 4 p.m. and  takes place on the Palace lawn overlooking scenic Kailua Bay. See you there!
